SitePoint auctions

If you’re looking to spend big on a website then SitePoint’s marketplace is the place to go. Currently it has quite an array of sites up for auction that vary in quality and price.

One is ThreeWorldWars.com. As the domain name suggests, the site is based on the subject of a ‘possible’ third World War. It raises some very interesting points and is certainly well worth a read. Whether you take it with a pinch of salt is up to you, but these days it seems that anything is possible.

The current bid at the time of posting is $8.5k with a BIN $15k. Bit pricey, especially with it being a PR4 and requiring lots of work, but I’m sure someone can eventually make a very decent profit with the site.

Next up is MoviesVideos.com. On first glances it looks an excellent site, although as some members on the forum have pointed out, there’s some serious question marks over the legitimacy over the revenue stats. The current bid is $10.5k, although it looks likely the bid will be retracted.

Looking at the seller’s information, they have only made three posts at SitePoint, which should always make buyers beware. A curious thing is that two of the posts have been bids for sites at $1k and $15k.

Saving the biggest until last are the auctions of InvisibleKeyLogger.com and VideoCodeZone.com. The minimum bids are $200k and $350k respectively. Curiously both sellers have zero posts, so who can tell what kind of reputation they have. What I don’t get is why on earth someone would post a site with such a high asking price on a forum, the chances of finding a buyer there with that amount of cash is unlikely.

I’ll keep an eye on the auctions, will be interesting to see how they all finish.
