New domain auction

Posted by Stevio in Domain Names, My Network on December 26th, 2006

I thought I’d have another go at selling some of the remaining domains that didn’t sell last time. This time I’ve gone for just one auction that includes the following domains: FadDiets.info, AsciiArt.info, SlangWords.info and CommonSayings.info. I’ve set the starting price at just $6, which is clearly much less that their total worth.

I’m a bit disappointed that I never got chance to develop AsciiArt.info properly. The script at sebastian-r.de/asciiart/ is great, unfortunately it doesn’t work on my hosting. FadDiets.info is a good domain too, but I now have another diet related domain, so no need for it. The other two domains would have been fun to develop, but I have loads already needing development.

The details of the auction are listed below. So far I’ve posted on Digital Point and at Webmaster-Talk.com.

All domains are registered with RegisterFly.

So anyway…

Posted by Stevio in Coupons, Domain Names, My Network on December 23rd, 2006

The auctions ended with just two sold. AlGoreQuotes.info went for $2 and BushQuotes.info for $4.

I’m always surprised at which domains people bid for as for those two I didn’t think there’d be much interest. I would have thought the footballers or the cricket player domains would have gone, but no, no-one seems interested at the moment. I’ll probably try again early in the new year.

I am planning to do a mass transfer of domains from Registerfly to Godaddy, this comes after I found out I can get a bulk discount! It seems if you add six transfers at once, you can get .info transfers at just $5.99, which of course is great! Only negative thing is that .com transfers remain at $6.99.

Talking of Godaddy, there’s yet another new coupon (gdh1222). This one takes 15% off your order and is valid until December 31st, 2006. Unfortunately it isn’t valid for transfers or renewals.

So far, so not happy!

Posted by Stevio in Domain Names, My Network on December 22nd, 2006

I can’t say I’m happy with the way the domain auctions are going, in fact, I’m thinking about closing the auctions that don’t have any bids, as it doesn’t look like there’ll be any bids for those. It is surprising that there’s no bids, especially for the ones with decent overture, but nevermind, I’ve still got the option of developing any that don’t sell.

Last night another bug appeared in the admin of FootballTransfers.co.uk, this time it wasn’t the fault of the current coder, it was in fact was down to the original coder back in 2001, who had actually failed to put a bit of code in. I could have fixed the problem myself, however, the current coder sorted it out, which was nice of him.

Even though I’m not having much success selling domains, I’m planning a few more purchases. I have a new site in mind and have the content, now I just need to register a suitable domain. I have two possibilities, one is a .ws and the other is a .co.uk with two hyphens. At the moment I’m favouring the .ws, but it really depends on price. Godaddy charge $9.99 for .ws, so perhaps some coupon hunting is needed!
