I’ll be back!

Posted by Stevio in Domain Names, My Network on January 21st, 2007

Tonight I’ve started work on a new actress website. I won’t reveal who, but she’s British and has worked with some big names, and no I don’t mean ‘Arnold Schwarzenegger’!

I’ll be using the template from the Robbie Coltrane site to start off on and work from there. The latter was my first attempt at creating a site about an actor, so at least now I’m familiar with what to include and how to go about it.

Talking of RobbieColtrane.com, I added a link to the site on wikipedia.org. Within hours they removed it claiming it was a ’spamlink’, how they can call it that is ridiculous, especially when you consider my site holds much more content about the actor than their page!

Some good news is that the sale of the auto domain is going through. The domain’s transfer is currently in the process of moving to the buyer’s registrar. Like I said before, I wasn’t too bothered about selling the domain, but it’s a nice profit, and the money will be put towards other projects/websites.

Still busy…

Posted by Stevio in My Network on January 19th, 2007

Since the weekend I’ve been busy with FootballTransfers.co.uk and have been distracted with some personal stuff. I’m not going to write about the latter, as I for one aren’t a fan of webmaster related blogs including details of their personal lives.

Even though I’ve had lots to do, I’ve still attempted to promote the Robbie Coltrane site a bit. One directory I submitted it to is celebrity-link.com, who also selected the site as ‘Celebrity Site of the Day’ for January 30th. This site is only a week old, so that was kind of funny. I will be doing more promotion of the site, as it’s still not yet in Google.

I’ll probably work on something over the weekend, not sure yet what I’ll be doing. There’s still a few projects that need finishing, but maybe I’ll start something new.

Robbie Coltrane site finished

Posted by Stevio in My Network on January 14th, 2007

The actor site I’ve been working on and off for the last few weeks is about Robbie Coltrane. He plays Hagrid in the Harry Potter movies. He’s also well known for playing ‘Fitz’ in the tv series ‘Cracker’.

The site only needed some finishing touches so there wasn’t that much to do. I’ve tweaked the text here and there, plus added a few more videos.

With it being a .com domain I didn’t really want to put any adverts on, but I thought I should put some of the small Adsense ads at the bottom to help pay for the domain.

Now I need to promote the site, so I’ll be submitting it to various celebrity directories, as well as DMOZ. I might even try and contact some of the Harry Potter sites and see if they’ll do a link exchage. Obviously it’s a new site, so I’m not sure if they’ll go for that.

This weekend

Posted by Stevio in Domain Names, My Network on January 13th, 2007

I’m still pretty busy with the football transfers site so little else has been done with new or other sites.

So far the only really interesting transfer news is where David Beckham has agreed a move to the MLS in the summer. It’s probably the first time ever a movie star - Tom Cruise - has influenced a transfer of this magnitude.

This weekend I plan to get the actor site finished. There shouldn’t be much to do, so fingers crossed it will be launched either Saturday or Sunday.

During the week, an idea for a site I had back in 2000 suddenly re-entered my head. At the time, I even created a few versions of how it could look like. Feedback from friends wasn’t particularly good, therefore the idea was shelved, but even now, I think the idea is a good one. So I’m thinking it might be worth building after the transfer window closes. Of course, I can’t say exactly what the idea is, but it’s football related and could be useful to fans.

Something that continues to tick me off is the lack of progress with Sedo over a domain sale. The winner of the auction paid Sedo nearly a month ago, so why it hasn’t been completed yet I don’t know. I’ve mailed them again yesterday, but again no reply. I am not impressed!
