Registerfly dispute accreditation loss

Posted by Stevio in Domain Names on March 29th, 2007

Registerfly may have taken ICANN’s logo from their site, but the loss of their registrar accreditation now appears to be on hold.

ICANN’s executive officer and vice president of corporate affairs, Paul Levins, commented on ICANN’s blog: “March 31 was the date at which accreditation would be terminated if Rfly [Registerfly] did not decide to dispute the accreditation through an dispute resolution provider.

“Rfly [Registerfly] has decided to do that.”

How long this will delay any bulk transfer of domains from Registerfly is anyone’s guess. The fact is a lot of people’s domains will be in limbo for weeks, or even possibly months, due to Registerfly’s CEO Kevin Medina’s latest actions.

Powerless ICANN make Registerfly plea?

Posted by Stevio in Domain Names on March 29th, 2007

The Registerfly debacle appears to have worsened with ICANN posting on their website a demand for the registrar’s CEO Kevin Medina to give them the domain data and remove the ICANN logo.

The fact they’ve acted in this manner shows how desperate ICANN have become and appears to put everyone’s domains at Registerfly in further jeopardy.

Are ICANN this powerless? As it looks like if Medina doesn’t want to provide the information, he won’t, meaning that no bulk transfer to another registrar can take place.

There’s two more day until Registerfly lose their ICANN accreditation, two days where I’m sure a lot of suffering people will have sleepless nights. Well done Mr. Medina.

Earlier today, Anne Martinez launched her class action lawsuit against Registerfly. More information on that can be found at registerfly-lawsuit.com.

Dream scenario

Posted by Stevio in Coupons, Domain Names, My Network on March 27th, 2007

Despite ending my efforts to sell my remaining .info domains at Registerfly, I have today sold all 34 to one person. Ironically, the price I sold them for is twice what that person was offering before he backed out last week. There’s some very good domains there, so I think it was a good deal for both parties.

I now have just one domain remaining at Registerfly, that being a .co.uk. I have requested that Registerfly change the domain’s TAG so that I can transfer it elsewhere, but so far no luck. I know I won’t lose the domain though, as there’s always the Nominet option.

Anyone still looking to transfer their domains out of Registerfly can take advantage of an offer from Dreamhost.com. Just use the coupon ‘FLYAWAY’ and you’ll get one year’s renewal plus a year’s hosting, all free. The offer ends March 31st, 2007.

Video killed the Radio Star

Posted by Stevio in Domain Names, My Network on March 24th, 2007

The site I was messing around with last weekend was a Music Videos Blog. The idea is pretty simple - each day post a new video with a few comments.

So far it’s going pretty well in terms of updating, as there’s loads of great videos to choose from. I’ve not done any promotion on it yet as it’s still way early, but I’ll soon start as there’s six posts already. I still haven’t made any new changes to the design. I’ll probably change the font and perhaps change a few of the colours.

I’ve registered seven new domains today. One is a rock band’s name, two deceased singers’ names, two movies stars’ names and an ex-tennis player’s name. All are .infos, so the expense was minimal.

Hopefully this weekend I’ll get on with developing some websites. Which ones I’m not sure yet.
