Expired domain filter at work?

Posted by Stevio in Domain Names, My Network on March 22nd, 2007

Today I’ve ended the domain sale. I had had a bulk bid for all 37 domains, but the person bailed out. He said he didn’t realise that the domains were at Registerfly, despite it being clearly mentioned.

As Overture has been updated with the latest information, I’ve now got the chance to re-examine the domains and re-consider any that I might now want to keep.

I’ve not really done any work on any new sites over the last few days. I have though been submitting the movie actor/actress sites to various directories. ClaireDanes.net has yet to be indexed by Google, just like RobbieColtrane.com, that’s most likely due to their expired domain filter. Hopefully the sites will soon be indexed, otherwise I’ll have to see if there’s something that can be done.

Domains: 5 out, 5 in

Posted by Stevio in Domain Names, My Network on March 20th, 2007

A few days back I listed 40 domains up for sale. Only four were sold - two were for free! I didn’t think I’d ever give away domains like that, but as they were expiring and as I wasn’t going to renew, it didn’t matter too much. Coincidentally, I did actually pick up a domain for free from someone else, so it just shows these types of gestures can work in your favour.

It does baffle me though that whenever you offer a domain for free - no matter how ordinary the domain is - there’s always someone interested. They still have to renew it, so what’s the difference between spending a couple of dollars extra to get a better domain?

Luckily the domain I got - which is games related - is a good one, it’s got good overture keywords, so has a lot of potential.

Despite offloading a few domains I have registered a few more. Two are .co.uk and two are .info. Two of the domains are actors, one is a Premiership footballer and the other one is for the project I mentioned in my last post.

The domain mentioned last actually already has Wordpress up and running on it. Unfortunately I don’t want to disclose it just yet as it needs a few more posts adding and a few design changes.

Finally, saving the best until last, I received and accepted an offer for a footballer domain on Sedo. I decided this time against an auction, as it took too long last time. The offer is a good one, especially considering it was a .info with a hyphen. I just hope it doesn’t take Sedo months to complete the sale!

Steve McQueen site relaunched

Posted by Stevio in My Network on March 18th, 2007

Steve McQueenThe website for movie icon Steve McQueen was finished yesterday. An odd thing when checking out the news page, I came across a today’s birthday article, surprisingly none other than ‘The King of Cool’ was listed. Only until I realised that the ‘International Herald Tribune’ had actually published the wrong birthdays, did I see it was for March 24th, but still it was a strange coincidence.

As there’d been no improved in ValueClick ads on NatureWallpaper.co.uk, I swapped them back to Adsense. Here’s hoping for an improvement in revenue.

Some time last week I came up with an idea for a site that I think would be fun to run. The idea has stuck with me and so tonight I’ve decided to go ahead with the project and have registered a domain. According seologs.com, the keyword difficulty is at 75%, which as you can expect, will be tough. I’ve no idea if the site will be a success, but regardless, I’m willing to give it a go.

One down, two to go…

Posted by Stevio in My Network on March 16th, 2007

I’ve finally got round to finishing off work on clairedanes.net, a fan site for actress Claire Danes. A good thing that I’ve just found out is that the domain is listed at celebritywonder.com and more importantly at imdb.com. Sadly, as the domain expired in December last year, it has zero pagerank.

So this coming weekend I’m hoping to finish the site for Steve McQueen, as well as start on yet another fan site. The latter is a bit of a rush job, as the ‘person’ is starring in a big movie coming out this summer. I already have the biography done and have organised the pages, so just got to sort out the other content and the design.

I’ll be putting the remaining 43 domains at Registerfly up for sale this weekend. There were 47, but four are pending sale. This time I plan to include cheap prices, so hopefully most of them will get sold.
