Gone down the .biz route

Posted by Stevio in Domain Names, My Network on April 29th, 2007

Productivity is continuing well as I’ve managed to finish off work on two sites over the weekend.

First to be finished was DownloadFonts.biz. It’s a turnkey site with a new design on it. The second was TattooPictures.biz.

As you’ve probably noticed, both are .biz domains. Normally I’d go for the main extensions, however, as none of those were available with decent keywords, I decided for the first time ever to go down the .biz route.

There appears to be a Google Pagerank update in progress. I’ve checked out most of my sites and a lot have drop by one. I suspect this is down to me theming links, thus removing a lot of links from various sites. I have had a few gains though, so provided there’s no further changes, I’ll have sites ranging from Pagerank one to five.

Update

Posted by Stevio in My Network on April 25th, 2007

During the last week I’ve been busy working on various new projects. Some are nearly complete, while a few are in the early stages.

At the weekend I bought a site about Ricardo Quaresma. He’s footballer who plays for Portuguese side FC Porto and is highly-rated. The site doesn’t have much content and needs a redesign, but it does rank well in Google for “Ricardo Quaresma”, and for just $10, I thought it was a good purchase to go with my other football player sites.

I’ve also put a site on FunGamesOnline.info. The domain I got for free from someone on DigitalPoint. The script must be three years or more old, as it’s the one that I got when I bought ArcadeHQ.com in 2004. I’m not sure what will happen with the site, it could be sold once it has traffic / pagerank.

I’ve been busy submitting my websites to free directories, it is becoming quite time consuming due to the amount of sites I have. I hate to think of what the directory owners think!

A disgrace!

Posted by Stevio in Domain Names on April 19th, 2007

The last few days I’ve seen people trying to sell domains related to the bloodshed at Virginia Tech. In the past I’ve seen people selling domains related to the hanging of Saddam Hussein and Anna Nicole Smith’s death, and even though that in itself was sick, some domainers have reached new lows by attempting to cash in this week.

It is really sad that people look to profit from such terrible events. Do they not have a conscience? They’re not donating the proceeds to the families of those who are currently suffering greatly, instead they’re pocketing the cash for their own ends. How they sleep at night is beyond me!

Rattle and roll

Posted by Stevio in My Network on April 18th, 2007

During the weekend the domain of the new site I bought - BikePictures.net - finally completed it’s transfer to Godaddy. This meant I could get the site up and running on my hosting.

Luckily I’m familiar with Coppermine, which is the gallery script the site uses, so getting the site up and running was quite easy. The site itself isn’t that old, but it has hundreds of photos. Admittedly I would have preferred just to have pictures of motorcycles on there, but for now the cars and truck pictures will stay.

This week I bought yet another site, RattlesnakesFacts.com. As you can guess, it’s all about rattlesnakes! I was keen to snap the site up to go with my Sperm Whale site - which seriously needs a redesign! RattlesnakesFacts.com didn’t need much work, I did give the design a tweak though.

Also this week I’ve been quite productive, I’ve finally brought back FreePoems.info. I had used the domain as an alias for PoetryMag.com with the hope it would drive traffic to the latter, but no joy.

I’ve also launched another site, BaseballDirectory.info. I started work on it back in November last year but never got round to finishing it until this week. Funny thing was that only the contact system needed installing, nothing much else.

Some great news is that finally my Robbie Coltrane site has appeared in Google and ranks in seventh position. With the new Harry Potter movie coming out in a few months, this is good timing!
