Link exchange struggle

Posted by Stevio in My Network on November 6th, 2007

I’ve been looking on Digital Point for websites to exchange links with via the forum’s link exchange section. So far after a few weeks I’ve yet to find any suitable sites to exchange with.

The common factor is that the sites aren’t of a decent standard, and are usually turnkeys or have non-unique content.

Sometimes on the rare occasion when I come across a possible worthwile site to swap links with I find something else that rules them out - like that they accept or already have links to websites that are not of the same theme - for example, an automotive site having links to a joke site.

Something that I find really annoying is when people don’t state their site in their post and then when you message them, they ask to see your site first. Why? Do they have something to hide?

Last week I even posted requesting links to my scary stories website - not one response. Seems to me if you want good reciprocal links, your best bet is to go out and find them yourself!

Two more websites bought

Posted by Stevio in My Network on November 5th, 2007

Last week I bought two websites. The first was JoyDiv.net, a fan site for the band Joy Division. I can’t say I was a fan of them or even knew that much about them prior to buying the site, but I do like the band New Order (Joy Division Mk II), so I thought it was good purchase as I could learn more about the band while working on the site.

The other site IronyExamples.com is an odd one, but as you can guess, it’s gives you examples of irony.

I haven’t done much with the latter yet - not even added Adsense - but the design certainly needs tweaking.

I’ve got a few other sites that I’m looking into building, so fingers crossed I can make some progress with them over the coming week.
